LGL Exclusive: First look with Chelsea Farr

She’s explosive, tenacious and merciless in the world of ladies gridiron. While running backs from across the nation ply their trade in a bid to claim the number two spot, Farr continues to leave all opponents in her wake with seven touchdowns in two games, one MVP award and a legion of awe-inspired fans.

Due to an undecipherable skillset, win-at-all-costs attitude and an unmatched ability to go zero to 100 real quick (cue Drake), Farr sits comfortably on the throne as the unrivalled Queen of the offence. Is she the G.O.A.T? Find us her superior and we’ll laugh you out of the room.

Check out our exclusive interview with Adelaide Phoenix Running Back Star Chelsea Farr. Make sure you watch the video right at the end!

The Crunch Mag
Hi Chelsea! How are things?

Chelsea Farr
Yeah not too bad and yourself?

The Crunch Mag
Yeah good! So tell us how did you get into Gridiron and what position do you play?

Chelsea Farr
Well one of the players on our team Ruthie use to be my house mate, one of her friends had taken her to one training and she was hooked. She couldn’t stop talking about it and kept trying to take me out, so eventually when try outs came around I agreed.

The Crunch Mag
And how did you fall into the running back position?

Chelsea Farr
I really have no idea, one training session our head coach pulled me off with the offence girls and started teaching me the basics of being a running back.

The Crunch Mag
Well it clearly worked seeing you scored the first touchdown on Ladies Gridiron League history! How many touchdowns have you scored up to this point?

Chelsea Farr
I haven’t really kept count to be honest, everything goes so quickly when your on the field! But without any of the offensive girls I wouldn’t of scored any!

The Crunch Mag
I’m pretty sure you are a record holder at this stage! I will go back to the game and count for you! What sport did you play before gridiron? You seem to have a knack with running.

Chelsea Farr
Before gridiron I played netball for about 12-13 years for Matrics netball club along with social netball and basketball. During my school years I also played anything and everything, rugby and hockey were the favourites!

The Crunch Mag
Rugby is definitely awesome! I’m with you there! Sounds like you had a very sporty life and you transitioned perfectly with gridiron! Besides sports.. what else do you do?

Chelsea Farr
Yes, I’ve always been doing some sort of sport! Well I currently work in Aged Care as a carer at All Care Aged Care, and I’m also studying for my Diploma in Enrolled Nursing.

The Crunch Mag
Ah wow! Care at work and beat girls on the field! Perfect work sports balance!haha

So… there has been tons of mix feelings about the Ladies Gridiron League coming into the sporting scene. Dramas about the uniform and how women are portrayed.. what do you think about all this?

Chelsea Farr
Honestly there’s always going to be someone complaining about something, there’s never going to be a moment when someone has nothing to say! I personally have no issues with our uniforms and why should anyone else. The way I see it is there are a number of other sports where females don’t wear much clothing, possibly even less then what we are wearing, so what makes us different? People will always have an opinion. All of us are just there to play a game that we love, so that’s all that matters.

The Crunch Mag
I completely agree with you!

Now the real burning question.. You guys have demolished Brisbane Blaze on the field and I’m sure you’ve seen Canberra Mustangs do the same.. How do you think the game in January will turn out when you go toe to toe with the Mustangs?

Chelsea Farr
That’s a good question, I believe it’s going to be a incredibly hard game, Canberra aren’t going to make it easy for us! I do believe in my team and believe we have what it takes, we are also so hungry to get back on that field! May the best team win!

The Crunch Mag
Chelsea thanks for speaking to us and we def look forward seeing your game in jan! We’ll catch up then!
